چکیده
Brazil is made up of diverse population and a vast land. The Natives who were the original inhabitants of Brazil included the Carib and Arawak groups in the north, the Gas in eastern and southern Brazil, the Tupı́Guaranı́s in the East Coast of Brazil and in the Amazon River valley, and the Panos in the west. For the most part these groups of natives were essentially seminomadic, who subsisted by hunting and gathering and simple agriculture. Those groups in the more remote areas of the interior of Brazil maintained their traditional ways of life until the late 20th century, when their existence was threatened by the advancing frontier. The Spanish navigator Vicente Yáñez Pinzón is the first known European who visited the region now constituting Brazil. He landed near the site of present-day Recife on January 26, 1500. He subsequently drifted northward as far as the mouth of the Orinoco River. In April 1500, Pedro Alvarez Cabral, a Portuguese navigator, arrived in what today is known as the state of Bahia. He officially dedicated the land to god and the king of Portugal. Brazilians consider him the discoverer of Brazil. In 1530 the Portuguese King John III initiated a program of systematic colonization of Brazil. In 1555, the French founded a colony on the shores of what they

Sanitary Wastewater Supplemented with Glycerol to Obtain Lipid-Rich Microalgal Biomass
Introduction: Mixotrophic microalgae systems have great potential for bioenergy production and wastewater treatment. Anaerobic-treated wastewater supplemented with carbon can improve biomass yield and quality, as it presents low carbon content. Alternative carbon sources in microalgae cultivation, such as glycerol, are essential for minimizing the economic and environmental impacts caused by bi...
متن کاملCRUDE GLYCEROL AS SUBSTRATE FOR SULFATE-REDUCING BACTERIA FROM A MATURE OIL FIELD AND ITS POTENTIAL IMPACT ON SOURING
Crude glycerol (CG) is an abundantly available and cheap by-product from biodiesel production. Value-added applications for CG are highly wanted by industry and several processes such as the use of CG for enhanced oil recovery have been proposed. The aim of this study was to evaluate the sulfide production of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) indigenous to oil reservoirs using CG as substrate. Th...
متن کاملMathematical Modeling of the Differential Sticking Coefficient of Clay Drilling Fluids
The main objective of this work is to propose a mathematical model for the differential sticking coefficient of clayey drilling fluids with a lubricant as an additive and evaluate the influence of differential pressure and lubricant content on filter cake thickness and permeability. Tests were carried out on fluids composed of water and 4.86% of active bentonite clay prepared in Hamilton Beach ...
متن کاملNitrogen management strategies for maize production systems: Experimental data and crop modeling
Maize (Zea mays L.) is an important crop among Brazilian smallholder farmers, who are also responsible for 40% of the poultry and egg production in the country.Although poultry litter is considered a potential pollutant, if properly stabilized anddistributed in the field it can be used as a source of nitrogen for maize production. In this study, the response of maize to mineral fertilizer and pou...
متن کاملProduction Data Analysis in a Gas-Condensate Field: Methodology, Challenges and Uncertainties
Production data analysis techniques have been widely used for estimating reservoir properties such as gas in place and average pressure. Knowledge of this information is crucial for proper reservoir management. The present study discusses the roadmap, challenges and uncertainties for analyzing production data in an Iranian gas-condensate offshore field. This work is an integrated study in...
